On June 5, Tom Werner and I went up to the transmitter site to work on the wireless network, and were shocked to see what happened to the site thanks to vandals. See the photos below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first photo shows how the chain link fence door was pried from the bottom to allow access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lock on the door to the transmitter had been pried off, and when we opened the door this is what we saw:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What happened to everything that used to be here? The rack in the background was filled with items. We needed only look over the side of the tower to see what happened to the missing items – <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The items had been unceremoniously discarded over the side – paint cans had split open, the fire extinguisher had discharged, the air conditioner was completely trashed, etc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Near the transmitter itself, many – but not all – of the items located near there had suffered a similar fate of being dumped over the side. However, the vandals did not interrupt the transmission by disconnecting any of the cables needed for that. This was NOT the result of kids on a spree of destruction.<\/strong> Whomever did this knew enough to know that if they cut off the transmission their activities would become known.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was last at the site on May 22. Based on the layer of pollen I saw on the discarded items, my guess is that this didn’t just happen; it probably happened last weekend (Memorial Day Weekend). A few days later, evidence was found in the device log files indicating that the event included approximately 7 PM on Sunday May 30 (the day before Memorial Day).<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
